Group Playing (Allspel/Samspel)

Scandia Camp has a long tradition of bringing musicians together, regardless of instrument, to play tunes that are common in a Scandinavian musician’s repertoire. In Sweden this is referred to as allspel and in Norway as samspel.

During these sessions, Peter Michaelsen will quickly teach/review common tunes emphasizing styling and dynamics with a focus on playing for dancing. These tunes will be included in the Group Playing set at the evening dances. Transcriptions of the Group Playing tunes, along with MP3 recordings of the tunes, are available on the Scandia Camp Mendocino web site so you can become more familiar with the tunes ahead of time. All instruments are welcome!
